SEAProTI President Meets with the Professional Tourist Guide Association of Thailand to Strengthen Collaboration in Enhancing Translator and Tourist Guide Professions
Bangkok, February 2, 2024 – Ms. Vanittha Sumanus, President of the Southeast Asia Professional Translator and Interpreter Association (SEAProTI), a mediator for the Ministry of Justice and the Royal Thai Police, and an arbitrator affiliated with the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC), paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Waspol Attapornthanaset, President of the Professional Tourist Guide Association of Thailand, and Mr. Wirote Sitprasertnan, former president of the association, to discuss collaborative efforts in a friendly and constructive atmosphere.
Key topics of the discussion included the Professional Translators, Certified Translation Providers, and Interpreters Act, as well as the establishment of a Professional Translators and Interpreters Council to elevate industry standards in Thailand. The meeting also explored joint activities and training programs between SEAProTI and the Professional Tourist Guide Association to enhance skills and knowledge exchange for both translators and tourist guides.
During the meeting, both parties shared insights on the integration of professional expertise and customer service skillsto empower translators and tourist guides to perform their roles more effectively and meet client expectations more comprehensively.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities of these two professions, fostering opportunities for skill development, and expanding the roles of professionals in the international arena sustainably.

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.

กรุงเทพมหานคร, 2 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 – คุณวณิชชา สุมานัส นายกสมาคมวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่ามแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (SEAProTI) ผู้ไกล่เกลี่ยข้อพิพาท กระทรวงยุติธรรม และสำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติ รวมถึงอนุญาโตตุลาการภายใต้สถาบันอนุญาโตตุลาการ (THAC) ได้เข้าพบ นายวัสน์พล อรรถพรธนเสฐ นายกสมาคมมัคคุเทศก์อาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วย นายวิโรจน์ สิตประเสริฐนันท์ อดีตนายกสมาคมฯ เพื่อหารือร่วมกันในบรรยากาศที่เป็นกันเอง
หัวข้อสำคัญในการหารือครั้งนี้ ได้แก่ พระราชบัญญัติวิชาชีพนักแปล ผู้รับรองการแปล และล่ามวิชาชีพ และการจัดตั้ง สภาวิชาชีพนักแปลและล่าม เพื่อยกระดับมาตรฐานวิชาชีพในประเทศไทย นอกจากนี้ ยังได้พูดคุยเกี่ยวกับกิจกรรมร่วมกันและการจัดฝึกอบรมระหว่างสมาคม SEAProTI และสมาคมมัคคุเทศก์อาชีพแห่งประเทศไทย เพื่อพัฒนาทักษะของนักล่ามและมัคคุเทศก์
ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นเกี่ยวกับการผสมผสาน ทักษะทางวิชาชีพและการบริการลูกค้า เพื่อให้นักวิชาชีพทั้งสองสาขาสามารถปฏิบัติหน้าที่ได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพและตอบสนองความต้องการของผู้ใช้บริการได้ดียิ่งขึ้น
ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้คาดว่าจะเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการพัฒนาศักยภาพของทั้งสองวิชาชีพ เปิดโอกาสในการพัฒนาทักษะใหม่ ๆ และสนับสนุนให้วิชาชีพของไทยเติบโตในเวทีระดับสากลอย่างยั่งยืน
