Recommended Translation Rates for 2025 for Professional Freelancers in Thailand
5 January 2025, Bangkok – In today’s world, document translation and proofreading play a crucial role in bridging understanding between different languages and cultures, whether in business, education, or official documents. Professional translators have become indispensable in these areas. Recognizing the necessity of standardizing translation compensation for professional translators, the Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has developed recommended translation rates to assist both the general public and professional translators in making informed decisions about hiring and accepting work.
To this end, SEAProTI has introduced the revised “Recommended Translation Rates” for 2025, specifically aimed at professional freelance translators working directly with clients, excluding agency-based work. These rates are designed to serve as a baseline reference and foster mutual understanding between translators and clients.

Types of Translation Work and Recommended Rates
1. General Document Translation For general documents such as reports or non-complex content, the recommended rate for translation from English to Thai is 360 THB per A4 page, using Cordia New font, size 16, with no font adjustments or special formatting. Proofreading services are priced at 155 THB per page. For translation from Thai to English, the starting rate is 470 THB per page, with proofreading costing 175 THB per page.
For third languages (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, or Korean), the translation rate to Thai starts at 470 THB per page, with proofreading at 175 THB per page. For translations from Thai to a third language, the rate begins at 570 THB per page, and proofreading costs 260 THB per page.
2. Specialized Document Translation Specialized documents, such as legal, medical, or technical materials, require a higher level of precision and expertise. The recommended rate for translating from English to Thai is 620 THB per page, with proofreading priced at 360 THB per page. For translations from Thai to English, the starting rate is 825 THB per page, with proofreading costing 470 THB per page.
For third-language translations into Thai, the rate is 825 THB per page, and proofreading costs 470 THB per page. Translating from Thai to a third language starts at 930 THB per page, with proofreading priced at 570 THB per page.
3. Official Document Translation Official documents, such as ID cards, house registrations, birth certificates, marriage certificates, or diplomas, are often required for visa applications, job applications, or further education. The recommended rate for translating from English to Thai starts at 210 THB per page, with proofreading at 110 THB per page. For translations from Thai to English, the rate is 310 THB per page, with proofreading costing 155 THB per page.
For official documents involving third languages, the translation rate to Thai is 310 THB per page, with proofreading at 155 THB per page. Translating from Thai to a third language starts at 415 THB per page, and proofreading costs 210 THB per page.
Important Notes on Translation Rates

Rates for International Projects: For freelance translators handling projects from international agencies, the recommended rate for translation is USD 0.045 per word, and for proofreading, it is USD 0.025 per word. These rates help ensure fair competition in the global market.

Scope of the Recommended Rates: These recommended rates are tailored for freelance translators working directly with clients, excluding work involving revenue sharing with agencies. Additionally, the translation of official documents does not include fees for certification by relevant authorities, such as the Department of Consular Affairs or other related offices, which the client must arrange independently.

Flexible Negotiation of Rates: Translators and clients are encouraged to negotiate terms upfront, considering the complexity of the content and the timeline, to avoid disputes later on.

ในกรณีที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภาษาที่สาม (Third Language) เช่น ภาษาจีน ญี่ปุ่น หรือเกาหลี อัตราค่าจ้างสำหรับการแปลเป็นภาษาไทยจะเริ่มต้นที่ 470 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 175 บาทต่อหน้าเช่นเดียวกัน สำหรับการแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาที่สาม อัตราค่าจ้างจะเริ่มต้นที่ 570 บาท และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 260 บาทต่อหน้า
2. การแปลเอกสารเฉพาะทาง เอกสารเฉพาะทาง เช่น เอกสารทางกฎหมาย การแพทย์ หรือเทคโนโลยี มีความซับซ้อนและต้องการความแม่นยำสูง อัตราค่าจ้างแนะนำสำหรับการแปลจากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทยคือ 620 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 360 บาทต่อหน้า สำหรับการแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ อัตราค่าจ้างเริ่มต้นที่ 825 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 470 บาทต่อหน้า
ในกรณีที่ต้องแปลภาษาที่สามเป็นภาษาไทย อัตราค่าจ้างอยู่ที่ 825 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 470 บาทต่อหน้า หากแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาที่สาม ค่าใช้จ่ายเริ่มต้นที่ 930 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 570 บาทต่อหน้า
3. การแปลเอกสารราชการ เอกสารราชการ เช่น บัตรประชาชน ทะเบียนบ้าน สูติบัตร ทะเบียนสมรส หรือปริญญาบัตร มีความสำคัญในแง่ของการใช้เพื่อการยื่นขอวีซ่า การสมัครงาน หรือการศึกษาต่อ อัตราค่าจ้างแนะนำสำหรับการแปลจากภาษาอังกฤษเป็นภาษาไทยเริ่มต้นที่ 210 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 110 บาทต่อหน้า สำหรับการแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ อัตราค่าจ้างอยู่ที่ 310 บาท และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 155 บาทต่อหน้า
ในกรณีการแปลเอกสารราชการที่เกี่ยวข้องกับภาษาที่สาม อัตราค่าจ้างสำหรับการแปลเป็นภาษาไทยคือ 310 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 155 บาทต่อหน้า หากแปลจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาที่สาม ค่าใช้จ่ายเริ่มต้นที่ 415 บาทต่อหน้า และค่าตรวจแก้ที่ 210 บาทต่อหน้า
