This ensures that the documents are authentic and legally recognized, adhering to international practices for validating cross-border documents.

Steps for Document Legalization

1. Translate the document into English
   Documents issued by authorities in Austria, Slovakia, or Slovenia must be translated into English by a court-certified translator in the respective country.

2. Authenticate the document with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the originating country
   Once translated, the original document and its English translation must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.

3. Translate into Thai (if necessary)
   If the document is to be used for official purposes in Thailand, it may need to be translated into Thai by a certified translator in Thailand.

4. Authenticate with the Royal Thai Embassy in the originating country
   The Royal Thai Embassy in the respective country will certify the document, verifying the authenticity of the signature of the official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the originating country.

5. Authenticate with the Department of Consular Affairs, Thailand
   Once the document is in Thailand, it must be presented to the Department of Consular Affairs for final authentication of the signature of the Royal Thai Embassy official.

Example: Marriage Certificate in Austria

• For marriages registered outside Vienna, the certificate must be authenticated by the Bezirkshauptmannschaft office and then by the Landesregierung.
• For marriages registered in Vienna, authentication must be done at the Magistratsabteilung and Magistrat der Bundeshauptstadt Wien.

Documents Requiring Thai Translation

Civil registry documents, such as marriage or divorce certificates, or any document used for district or municipal office transactions in Thailand, must always be translated into Thai. Translators must be certified by relevant authorities in Thailand or the originating country.

How to Submit a Legalization Request

1. Required Documents

   • Original document and the English translation, already authenticated.
   • One copy of the original and its translation.
   • Legalization fees (€15 per item).
   • Self-addressed envelope for return delivery.

2. Submission Methods

   • In-person: At the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, with prior appointment.
   • By mail: Submit a complete set of documents and fees via registered mail.

8 มกราคม 2568, กรุงเทพมหานคร – การนำเอกสารต่างประเทศมาใช้ในประเทศไทย เช่น ทะเบียนสมรส ทะเบียนหย่า หรือเอกสารสำคัญอื่น ๆ ที่ออกโดยหน่วยงานในต่างประเทศ จำเป็นต้องผ่านกระบวนการรับรองตามขั้นตอนของทั้งประเทศต้นทางและประเทศไทย เพื่อให้มั่นใจว่าเอกสารดังกล่าวเป็นของแท้และสามารถใช้ในทางกฎหมายได้ กระบวนการนี้ถือเป็นแนวปฏิบัติสากลที่ใช้เพื่อรับรองความถูกต้องของเอกสารในระดับระหว่างประเทศ

ขั้นตอนการรับรองเอกสาร

1. แปลเอกสารเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ
   เอกสารที่ออกโดยหน่วยงานในออสเตรีย สโลวาเกีย หรือสโลวีเนีย จะต้องแปลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษโดยผู้แปลที่ได้รับการรับรองจากศาลในประเทศนั้น ๆ

2. รับรองเอกสารโดยกระทรวงการต่างประเทศของประเทศต้นทาง
   หลังจากแปลเอกสารแล้ว จะต้องนำเอกสารตัวจริงและคำแปลไปให้กระทรวงการต่างประเทศของประเทศนั้น ๆ รับรอง

3. แปลเอกสารเป็นภาษาไทย (ถ้าจำเป็น)
   หากเอกสารนั้นจะถูกใช้ในหน่วยงานราชการของไทย อาจต้องแปลเอกสารเป็นภาษาไทยโดยผู้แปลที่ได้รับการรับรองในประเทศไทย 

4. รับรองเอกสารโดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย ณ ประเทศต้นทาง
   สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทยในประเทศต้นทางจะรับรองเอกสารว่าเจ้าหน้าที่ที่ลงนามในเอกสารเป็นผู้มีอำนาจและลายมือชื่อนั้นถูกต้อง

5. รับรองเอกสารโดยกรมการกงสุล กระทรวงการต่างประเทศไทย
   เมื่อเอกสารมาถึงประเทศไทย จะต้องนำไปที่กรมการกงสุลเพื่อรับรองลายมือชื่อของเจ้าหน้าที่จากสถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย

ตัวอย่างขั้นตอนสำหรับทะเบียนสมรสในออสเตรีย

• หากจดทะเบียนสมรสนอกกรุงเวียนนา ต้องรับรองที่สำนักงาน Bezirkshauptmannschaft และกรมการปกครอง Landesregierung ตามลำดับ
• หากจดทะเบียนสมรสในกรุงเวียนนา ต้องรับรองที่ Magistratsabteilung และ Magistrat der Bundeshauptstadt Wien

เอกสารที่ต้องแปลเป็นภาษาไทย

การยื่นคำร้องขอรับรองเอกสาร

1. เอกสารที่ต้องใช้

   • ต้นฉบับเอกสารและคำแปลภาษาอังกฤษที่ผ่านการรับรอง
   • สำเนาเอกสารและคำแปล 1 ชุด
   • ค่าธรรมเนียม (15 ยูโรต่อรายการ)
   • ซองจดหมายพร้อมที่อยู่สำหรับการส่งเอกสารคืน

2. วิธียื่นคำร้อง

   • ยื่นด้วยตนเองที่สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย ณ กรุงเวียนนา โดยต้องนัดหมายล่วงหน้า
   • ส่งคำร้องทางไปรษณีย์ โดยแนบเอกสารและค่าธรรมเนียมที่ครบถ้วน

ค่าธรรมเนียม

• รับรองตราประทับเอกสาร: 15 ยูโรต่อรายการ
• รับรองคำแปล: 15 ยูโรต่อชุด

ระยะเวลาดำเนินการ

สถานเอกอัครราชทูตไทย ณ กรุงเวียนนา จะดำเนินการรับรองเอกสารภายใน 5 วันทำการ หลังจากได้รับเอกสารและค่าธรรมเนียมครบถ้วน

หมายเหตุสำคัญ

• การแปลเอกสารต้องทำหลังจากเอกสารต้นฉบับและคำแปลภาษาอังกฤษได้รับการรับรองแล้ว
• เอกสารที่ผ่านการรับรองจากกรมการกงสุลไทยสามารถนำไปใช้ยื่นในหน่วยงานราชการไทยได้ทันที
• หากผู้ยื่นคำร้องไม่สามารถดำเนินการเองได้ สามารถมอบอำนาจให้บุคคลอื่นดำเนินการแทนในประเทศไทยได้
