BOI Promotion of the Motion Picture Industry in Thailand
20 February 2025, Bangkok – Thailand has become a top destination for international film productions due to its breathtaking landscapes, unique cultural settings, and cost-effective production expenses. Additionally, the country has a well-established film production infrastructure, reducing the need for foreign companies to import equipment and personnel.
To further encourage investment in this industry, the Board of Investment (BOI) Thailand promotes motion picture-related activities under Activity 7.17, covering film production, supporting services, and multimedia services. Eligible projects receive various incentives, including tax exemptions and import duty waivers on essential machinery and equipment.
What Does the BOI Support?
BOI clearly defines the scope of eligible activities for promotion. These include:
✅ Film production equipment rental – Businesses must provide essential equipment such as professional cameras, lighting sets, power generators, and camera accessories.
✅ Film processing and printing services – Requires advanced film development, coloring, and editing equipment.
✅ Sound recording services – Must have a fully equipped recording studio with digital sound recording, editing, and mixing systems.
✅ Imaging and special effects services – Businesses must use specialized equipment for film and television production, including digital composing and high-definition video recording.
✅ Coordination services – Includes facilitating film permits, location scouting, recruitment, and production equipment acquisition.
Additionally, BOI has introduced the “Movie Town” project in Chiang Mai, designed to establish Thailand as a global film production hub. Investors in this project benefit from exclusive incentives, including up to 8 years of corporate income tax exemption.
The Role of Certified Interpreters and Translators from SEAProTI

The Southeast Asian Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (SEAProTI) has officially announced the criteria and qualifications for individuals to register as “Certified Translators,” “Translation Certification Providers,” and “Certified Interpreters” under the association’s regulations. These guidelines are detailed in Sections 9 and 10 of the Royal Thai Government Gazette, issued by the Secretariat of the Cabinet under the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, dated July 25, 2024, Volume 141, Part 66 Ng, Page 100.

เพื่อดึงดูดการลงทุนในอุตสาหกรรมนี้ คณะกรรมการส่งเสริมการลงทุน (BOI) ได้ออกนโยบายส่งเสริมภายใต้หมวด กิจกรรม 7.17 ซึ่งครอบคลุมทั้งการผลิตภาพยนตร์ การให้บริการสนับสนุนการถ่ายทำ และบริการมัลติมีเดีย โดยกิจกรรมเหล่านี้จะได้รับสิทธิประโยชน์ทางภาษีและการยกเว้นอากรขาเข้าสำหรับเครื่องจักรและอุปกรณ์ที่จำเป็น
BOI สนับสนุนอะไรบ้าง?
BOI กำหนดขอบเขตของธุรกิจที่ได้รับการส่งเสริมไว้อย่างชัดเจน ตัวอย่างเช่น
✅ บริการให้เช่าอุปกรณ์ถ่ายทำ ต้องมีอุปกรณ์ที่ครบครัน เช่น กล้องถ่ายภาพยนตร์ ไฟฟ้า เครื่องปั่นไฟ และอุปกรณ์เสริมต่าง ๆ
✅ บริการประมวลผลและพิมพ์ฟิล์ม ต้องมีเครื่องล้างฟิล์ม เครื่องทำสีฟิล์ม และเครื่องตัดต่อภาพยนตร์
✅ บริการบันทึกเสียง ต้องมีห้องบันทึกเสียงที่ได้มาตรฐาน พร้อมอุปกรณ์ดิจิทัลที่ทันสมัย
✅ บริการประสานงานและโลเคชันสเกาต์ ช่วยอำนวยความสะดวกในการขอใบอนุญาต ถ่ายทำ และติดต่อหน่วยงานราชการ
นอกจากนี้ BOI ยังให้การส่งเสริมโครงการ “Movie Town” ในเชียงใหม่ ซึ่งเป็นเมืองอุตสาหกรรมภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับการสนับสนุนโดยตรงจากรัฐบาล โดยผู้ที่ลงทุนในโครงการนี้จะได้รับสิทธิประโยชน์พิเศษเพิ่มเติม เช่น การยกเว้นภาษีนิติบุคคลนานถึง 8 ปี
บทบาทของล่ามรับรองและนักแปลรับรองจาก SEAProTI

🔹 อำนวยความสะดวกในกระบวนการขอรับการส่งเสริมจาก BOI ซึ่งต้องใช้เอกสารจำนวนมากและต้องมีความถูกต้องทางกฎหมาย การมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านภาษาและกฎหมายช่วยดูแล จะช่วยลดปัญหาความเข้าใจผิดและทำให้กระบวนการเป็นไปอย่างรวดเร็ว
